Traffic Technologist

Position Summary

Reporting to the Supervisor of Transportation Services, the Traffic Technologist is responsible for performing roadway safety, operational studies and further undertake analysis related to roadway and parking operations.

Other duties include:

  • Written and Verbal correspondence to Councillors, internal and external stakeholders, residents, contractors and consulting organizations
  • Investigate requests related to Traffic Operations, Roadway Safety, Parking Operations, Intersection control and access issues
  • Undertake the review of new developments and traffic impact studies and identifying needs to address traffic controls, traffic calming and active transportation
  • Assist in directing and coordinating tasks for co-op student
  • Composes technical reports, correspondence and compile statistics
  • Undertake studies and field investigations related to operations, collisions, speeding and provides recommendations based on technical standards
  • Research and develop new and/or update existing warrants and policies
  • Investigate, design and implementation of Active Transportation measures, programs and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a three-year community college program or equivalent in Transportation Technology
  • Over three (3) years of experience is required in the field of transportation technology
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and computer skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

WAGE/SALARY RANGE: $40.46 to $43.04 per hour (based on a 35-hour work week) plus benefits.
