Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Transportation and Mobility Planning, the Project Manager II (Infrastructure Network Analyst) is responsible for the Region’s transportation demand model and associated projects/studies. Key undertakings that the Project Manager II will specialize in includes transportation system analysis and evaluation, travel demand forecasting as well as long range transportation network assessments to support a multi-modal Regional transportation network.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, operation and maintenance of the Region’s transportation demand model including the analysis/interpretation of results as well as identification of network opportunities and recommendations.
  • Conduct and/or review area specific technical transportation network studies, feasibility studies or other transportation-related studies.
  • Provide transportation-related input and technical support on Regional projects, as well as projects undertaken by others, such as the Local Municipalities, Metrolinx, Ministry of Transportation to support a seamless and connected multi-modal transportation network across the Region.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with staff of Halton Region through developed and demonstrated professionalism, awareness, political acuity and responsive communications.
  • Assist with the development of multi-modal transportation and mobility procedures/policies, preparation of staff reports and recommendations to Regional Council on matters dealing with transportation and mobility planning.
  • Represent the Region on technical studies and committees and before municipal tribunals related to the municipal transportation infrastructure.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering, along with Certification in Ontario as a Professional Engineers Ontario (P.Eng.). 
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in transportation demand modelling and planning multi-modal transportation infrastructure.
  • Strong proficiency in EMME/GTAv4, ARC GIS and related modelling software.
  • Reviewing/evaluating transportation related impacts/analysis at the network and intersection level.
  • Experience in planning complex multi-modal transportation projects.
  • Experience in applying multi-modal transportation/mobility industry best practices, standards and guidelines (for example, TAC and OTM).
  • Strong project management, strategic planning, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Other Transportation related software including Synchro, Vissim and Aimsun, an asset
  • Project Management Certification (PMP), preferred not required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
