Course Purpose: Ontario Traffic Manual Book 18 – Cycling Facilities is the primary design resource used by municipalities throughout Ontario. Since the first edition was published in 2014, the design of cycling facilities has quickly evolved. The new OTM Book 18 provides practitioners with an updated toolbox, informed by the most current research and lessons learned, to plan and implement cycling networks and infrastructure. Through expert presentations, hands-on exercises and group discussions, this course will provide an opportunity to learn about best practices and emerging design solutions that can help build a connected cycling network that appeals to all ages and abilities.

Who Should Attend? This course will be valuable for a range of practitioners including planners, engineers, technologies, maintenance and operations staff, landscape architects, public health officials, and others involved in the implementation and management of roadways and cycling facilities.

Part 2: Facility selection
10:15 a.m. – 11 a.m. Linear Cycling Facilities, Accessibility, Facility Selection Process
11 a.m. – Noon Exercise (Breakout Rooms): Complete the Street

Part 3: Intersection and Crossing Design
1 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. Report back on Day 1 exercise
1:15 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. Intersections and Crossings, Bicycle Signals

Part 4: Intersection design exercise

Registration fees:
Login details for the virtual session will be sent to all registrants prior to the course date.
OTC member – $349 +HST
Non-member – $449 +HST

Cancelation and refund policy –
Should a registrant decide to cancel attendance at an in-person or virtual event, training or symposium based on health concerns, unexpected travel issues or emergency, OTC will provide a credit to the registrant.

Rescheduling to another event is permissible, and the registrant will be charged an administrative fee of $75. No cost will be applied if the request is made five days in advance.

If a registrant wants to cancel attendance at an event (in-person or virtual) and requests a refund, the registration fee less 50% will be refunded.

Please note that from time to time additional consideration may be given based upon circumstance and situational need. However, the above policy will be strictly enforced as the policy governing our events, trainings and symposia in all circumstances.
