Ontario Traffic Manual Book 18 - Cycling Facilities is the primary design resource used by municipalities throughout Ontario. Since the first edition was published in 2014, design of cycling facilities has quickly evolved. The new edition of OTM Book 18 provides practitioners with an updated toolbox, informed by the most current research and lessons learned, to plan and implement a cycling network.

The Ontario Traffic Council Protected Intersection Guide, released in 2023, imparts the latest best practices in the planning, design, and operation of protected intersections in the Ontario context. By the end of the training, participants will understand protected intersections and their advantages over conventional designs, know the design elements that make up a protected corner and how to draw one and gain a basic understanding of how different signalization strategies can enhance designs.

Through presentations from experts, hands-on exercises and group discussions, these courses will provide an opportunity to learn about best practices and emerging design solutions that can help build a comfortable and connected cycling network that appeals to all ages and abilities.

Who Should Attend? This course will be valuable for a range of practitioners including planners, engineers, technologists, maintenance and operations staff, landscape architects, public health officials, and others involved in the implementation and management of roadways and cycling facilities.
